DJ BREEAZY'S BIO:

A lot of people go thru life without finding their true passion. Passion is defined as, an intense or overpowering emotion such as love, joy, hatred, or anger. ”Thankfully for me, that emotion is the overwhelming love and joy I have for DJing. The only other people in this world that can share in this emotion with me are the other DJ’s who truly and wholly have this passion as well.

For me, its not about the money or fame DJing can bring, it is about the absolute raw excitement I get from seeing a club full of people going completely crazy because of a particular song I play at just the right time, or the way a song is dropped that totally takes people by surprise, or when complete strangers approach me telling me they had one of the best times of their lives that night because of the energy and positive force I gave them. That to me, is what defines finding one’s passion and thankfully for me I have found it.

I can admit there are tons of technically sound DJ’s that will step on me in this industry, but that doesn’t mean I can’t hold my own. I have not been doing this my whole life, I actually still have a 9-5 job and in fact, I am still a rookie by most standards, but again, I can hold my own.

My journey started back in 2004. I recently had graduated from a small school in Vermont, where music was an overwhelming force of entertainment. I was in fact one of the few people in my group of 30 or so friends who preferred Hip-Hop over such music as the Grateful Dead and Phish.  I always did and being in hippy land wasn’t going to change my taste in what music I liked. I do admit, I became very fond of the Dead and their very deep and passionate songs, but I never lost my love for Hip-Hop music. Upon returning to Mass and moving to Brighton for my first real world job, I had always had this strong urge to be a DJ, but never had the funds to support this very expensive venture. I began going out to clubs and bars and after a few months of being in Boston, I made it my super short term goal to save up enough money to buy turntables and a mixer.
After a few short weeks I had saved up enough money to do so.

I bought my first pair of Technics 1200 mk5 (lets face it, you gotta get the best) and a Vestex mixer. I then hit the underground hip-hop record store on Huntington Ave and bought $500 worth of vinyl and I hit the decks hard! I came home from my 9-5 and did nothing but practice. I taught myself everything I know about DJing by reading books and watching tutorials on the internet. I wanted to learn everything I could about DJing and not having any one to guide or show me the way only made it so I had to work harder to get to where I wanted to be. I did talk on a few DJ forums and got tips and ideas on how to improve, but I wanted my style to be my own. I did not want to be a microwave DJ and take every short cut I could to try and get gigs. I wanted to be the best I could be and not copy anyone else’s steeze or style.

After about another year of bedroom DJing, I met this cat by the name of DJ NRG. I sent him a mix and he said come down and do a night with me at Underbar. I was totally shocked, yet excited. I went in there and completely train wrecked all over the place. It didn’t help I had to use a rotary mixer, which is something I had never seen, never mind used, but it was a big blow to my confidence. After that incident I went home and didn’t touch my tables for a month. I felt useless. After staring at my gear for that month I told myself, this is something you want to do, so do it! After telling myself this is your dream, I worked even harder then I did before and after another year of non-stop practicing I landed a gig @ The Greatest Bar and met a few other DJ’s who took me under their wing, esp my boy DJ Barber. I continued to persevere, started networking and eventually hooked up with my, now partner, Sunny of BostonVipList.com. Since the winter of 2008, I have had times where I have been spinning 4 nights a week, every week for BostonVipList.com events. Each time rocking the club and getting positive feedback from all who enjoy the passion and energy I give off during my sets.

It has been a long and at times, difficult and confusing road. What has made the difference is the dedication, the hard work, and the support from my great girlfriend, great friends, and loving family and the passion I have to succeed and be the best I can, I have now become a resident DJ at many clubs on many nights around Boston and its all for the passion and love I have of the art, the craft, and the music.

Much Respect!
